Cauvery Clashes - A Dark Spot on our Nationalism.

India is one country which is often hailed by many national leaders at various international platforms for its national integrity despite of having many diversities. India's freedom struggle is a symbol of its national integrity where people of different regions, languages, religions came together to fight for a common cause of attaining freedom to its nation. From there on the journey of India as a nation has achieved many milestones in various fields. But then we had to face some unfortunate incidents in our journey. The recent Cauvery water clashes is a dark spot on our national integrity. India can't afford such clashes anymore. These incidents results in the loss of public and private property, loss is revenue and breakdown of economy. These may also result in loss of lives leaving many families stranded, loosing their livelihood. The recent clashes resulted in severe loss of public and private property. The people who are responsible for these clashes certainly escape but final victims are common citizens. I am certain that the issue is on raise due to those people who wanted to take political advantage on government by creating some disturbance. They provoke those who aren't good enough to understand the situation and just act upon the provocation with out knowing the facts. They revolt to violence which is not the solution for any problem. I was shocked seeing the people from Karnataka taking on vehicles with TN (Tamil Nadu) registration burning them down and vice versa. I can't understand what made them to do so or what made them think that those vehicles are responsible for Supreme court's judgement on Cauvery water. It is senseless and I am unable to describe those shameful acts. Anyway Supreme court is above all in this country and you should certainly follow it's orders and all those who are against some judgement there is a certain procedure to follow to show your disagreement towards some judgement. This is not the way you respond to the apex court's judgement. At the end of the day I wanted to ask all those cowards, what have you gained by this? mere attention by national media and apex court's anger. Nothing has changed much in the judgement. The result is that many companies had lost its revenue, public and private property getting ruthlessly destructed, hatred feelings between the people of Tamilnadu and Karnataka. I am very sure that there is no hatred feelings among most of the people from two states, it is just some politicians and some narrow minded cowards who are responsible to degrade the dignity of the two states and created national security problems. As a nation we help other countries to build their infrastructure. We had helped Afghanistan to build a dam to supply water for irrigation and drinking. We had helped Bangladesh to attain its freedom and also many other situations. We helped Nepal when there was a huge earthquake leaving many families stranded on streets. Now, when Supreme court say to release water for Tamilnadu for few days, there is a huge protests, revolts and violence. We help other countries, can't we help our own neighboring states. We exchange many between states such as electricity, rice grains and even man power. Many of us are born somewhere, educated somewhere and finally will settle somewhere else, after all these why these differences. We need to understand that these differences are created by those coward people seeking a personal benefits. Certainly we don't have any problems among us. We should rise above all these differences like caste, religion, region and language and unite and fight against those evil forces prevailing in our society since ages who are responsible to create differences and violence for their personal benefits and recognition. All those who are waiting for an opportunity to take advantage, create differences and revolt to violence, It's time for you to grow up and make your identity in helping our nation to rise. We are Indians, We are ONE...

'I' am an Indian. 'I' need to Change.

India is my country.
All Indians are my brothers and sisters.
I love my country, and I am proud of its rich and varied heritage.
I shall always strive to be worthy of it.
I shall give my parents, teachers and all elders respect and treat everyone with courtesy.
To my country and my people, I pledge my devotion.
In their well being and prosperity alone lies my happiness.

Remember the above sentences? We used to recite those holy lines of speech daily in our schools. I don't know how many schools continue this culture of reciting the national pledge. We are lucky enough to recite those lines. Those lines are not meant to be forgotten as soon as we leave schools, that is the oath which we have taken towards our country and fellow Indians. Now question is how many of us are following it? We blame politicians and other leaders for not delivering their promises. Who to be blamed for our failure in keeping the promise which we had made towards our country?
I never complained when I said that all Indians are my brothers and sisters, but today I fight with my fellow Indians in the name of cast, gender, language, region, religion. If every Indian thinks that we are all one family belonging to one nation we wouldn't have seen our sisters being tortured, our mothers and fathers being abandoned, our daughters being killed. I complain about corruption and scams but never think of paying bribes when I get caught while travelling without ticket. I wanted the officers to be strict with all others except me. I complain about the loop holes in the system but I search for those loop holes when I wanted some work to be done by the system. I complain about all others but never mind my own hypocrisy. I complain about the reservation system till I was included and benefited through reservation system. I complain about people occupying seats in trains and buses illegally but never bother to occupy one if I don't have one. I complain of the people evading taxes but never bother pay my tax. I evade fines by paying bribes. I get my licenses through brokers with out following the necessary procedures. I vote for my caste with out bothering his character and qualifications. I never think of my responsibilities but always ready to fight for my rights. I never encourage inter caste marriages. I believe in superstitions which I like but never wanted others to follow other superstitions. I like enjoying holidays of all festivals but never bother to respect other religions and national festivals. I complain about the government but never recognize that I am also part of the same government. I know what is cleanliness and importance of it but never bother to litter on public places. I know the importance of environment but never bother about the loss incurred due to my activities. I know traffic rules but never bothered to break. I know the importance of helmet but never bother to wear one. I give lot of importance to my religion but never follow the true principles of my religion. Totally I am responsible for many aspects in my society which can change the other way round if I think of a change. I am an Indian. I need to CHANGE. INDIA needs that CHANGE in all its citizens. I am ready to Change. Hope we Change....

Rio Olympics- A lesson to India.

First of all, hearty congratulations to the whole Indian Contingent for putting their best efforts at Rio. I thank Sakshi and Sindhu for their medals for the country. Though we have won only two medals, if we look at the leader board positions in many event our Indians gave very tough fight. Some of them are really close like Deepa Karmakar, Abhinav Bindra missed by fractions. Some finished in respectable positions especially in Athletics, Sculls, Shooting. We lost important games in Hockey Archery, Wrestling, Boxing, Tennis and Badminton which doesn’t mean we are outplayed totally; it is just an odd bad day. Those games might have gone anybody’s way.  Overall we have improved our performance at Olympics.Just number of medals doesn’t speak everything. But still we have many questions to answer.

We are only next to china in population but why we had to wait for 12 days since the start of Olympics to register a medal on our name. Countries with population less than many of our states are able to secure more medals. Does India lack talent? No, India has got talent but not enough opportunities.  There are people who blame cricket for dominating other sports. Yes it dominates, but it doesn’t hold sole responsibility. There are several other important factors.  The facilities to other sports are seldom. Cricket is an easy game in terms of accessibility. It can be played on streets, farms and sometimes inside rooms with a little creativity, but this is not the case with other sports. Even in terms of profession, cricketers have more facilities and opportunities. This alone can’t be stated as reason for other sports loosing attention. Overall the importance given to sports in India is less. The average amount spent on sports per person in India is far behind what they spent in China and most of the countries for that matter. Today governments are competing to announce prizes for the Olympic medalists. Its good, but the problem is different, we lack facilities, compete in providing facilities, the talented are getting submerged under economical barriers and politics. There are only few who are lucky to get an opportunity. The people who had won medals for India are great and are deserved to get rewards and recognition. This doesn't mean the others who had given their best but had a bad day are not worthy. They need more support. Most of them fought hard, it is our responsibility to give our support to them and help them to perform better next time. It is heartbreaking to hear about an athlete who fainted due to unavailability of water. We had sent other officials including union minister to help our athletes. I don't want to comment more. Governments and authorities are very busy in their own politics. The unworthy politicians and other people should be kept away from these. There are many who know the sports better so that they manage those respective academies and organizations. The encouragement is needed when the players actually need it. This is needed for those who gave their best but missed closely. This is needed for those who lack facilities. This is needed to those who are struggling for opportunities. This dedication is needed in providing facilities to them. Had they spent that money in improving the facilities we might have won more medals. The other bitter truth is education in India dominates sports. Very few people believe the sports and games are the part of education. Our education system itself is ruined by giving stress on quantity of marks rather than the quality of education. This is the reason why we are neither able to produce gold medalists in Olympics nor able to produce noble prize winners of science. No offence, we are just good at producing rankers and toppers whose ultimate goal is to settle in life with a job with a good package. There are people who think out of box, who are multi talented but those are not given opportunities to express themselves. Most of the parents don’t give importance to sports and physical education. Most of the schools don’t provide its students with proper physical education. Most of the schools are expanding vertically but there are very less schools which provide ground and other facilities to their students. The lack of urban planning made our modern cities deprived of empty spaces and grounds. This attitude of parents and management should change. The physical training and sports should be given enough importance. The education should be knowledge centered rather than giving importance to the quantity of marks. There are many qualities which can't be infiltrated into students through books. Sports and games is one way to enrich one's character, one's capability to tackle pressure situations. Students should be given opportunities in every field. We need competitions of various events at school level, college level, state level and national level. We need leagues in all fields at national level like IPL, Pro Kabadi. We need to recognize talent from every nuke and corner of the country. We need to celebrate national science day and national sports day as we celebrate our national festivals. We need dedicated coaches and dedicated teachers. We need CHANGE to Change our fate at Olympics or any other international platform.

70 Years of Indian Independence - A long Journey ahead.

Seventy years ago, on this day the citizens of this country came together to celebrate the Independence from colonial rule. Yet there are many challenges infront of them to make independent India a global platform which can compete with the best in every field. They laid a platform for our country with the best constitution and other amenities. They trusted us, our skills in making our country better and better. In these 70 years we as a nation had achieved many goals, we had put out country in a position which seemed impossible 70 years before. India's freedom struggle with non violence is a global lesson to maintain peace in the world. Our leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, APJ Abdul Kalam has become global icons for their respective deeds. Today countries like America, China, Russia gives importance to maintain friendly relations with us knowing our potential and strength. Our Army, Navy, Airforce are regarded as one of the best security forces. Our national space organization ISRO stunned the whole world with the missions it had taken making India a global competitor in Space science and Technology. The Maangalyan mission and the cost of the mission had made us unique. Organizations like DRDO, HAL are symbols of India's capability in sector of manufacturing. The recent fighter jet ' Tejas ' made the world look at our capabilities. The Indian brands like TATA made a global impact and registered its name in the top 100 most valued brands in the world. India reached a position to take in global contracts in various fields strengthening its ties with other countries across various fields. We have succeeded in establishing world class educational and research institutions such as IISC etc. We had dominated the world in the production of Milk. We listed our name in the top producers of steel etc. In the recent past we also gave attention on renewable energy resources and nuclear energy. To add to this we have many achievements in various fields. Still there are challenges left infront of us to make our country better. We need to have a broader mindset of Independence. We need to understand the idea of democracy. We need to curb caste based and religious based politics. We need politicians who are capable of changing the system. We need knowledge centered education system where every child has a right to pursue knowledge in a field he likes to. We need youth who can understand the idea of India. We need youth who are ready to serve the country. We need to set a platform where our citizens don't depend on other countries to settle in life. We need Independent India where my farmer friends doesn't depend totally on monsoons rather they use technology to make efficient use of monsoon rainfall. We need FREEDOM. Freedom from corruption. Freedom from poverty. Freedom from female foeticides. Freedom from crimes especially against my female friends. Freedom from caste and religious differences. Freedom from child labors.Freedom from farmer suicides. Freedom from scams. Freedom from hunger. Freedom from litter. Freedom from struggle.

Let us all pledge this Independence Day that we achieve this FREEDOM for our mother land.  'Vandemataram' is not 'One Day mataram' , we try our best to make our country better and never forget that we belong to this holy nation. Every single day let us celebrate Freedom and salute our nation for giving us this atmosphere. Wish you all a very happy Independence day.
