The Independence Day.

Wish you a very happy independence day to all my fellow Indians and also to the neighboring country. This day is considered as an auspicious day in the history of India as we achieved independence from the British rule which is treated more as slavery than as a rule or government. We had completed 68 years of independence. Our leaders had a vision for our country when we had achieved our independence which is also projected in our constitution and our laws. Now the question is ‘Where we stand in achieving that vision?’ Did we achieve at least 50% of it? It is difficult to answer. In these 68 years we had achieved many laurels for our country. We had a potential defence, navy and air force units which are continuously guarding our nation. We had taken up successful Mangalyan project recently which shows our potential in space navigation and research. We had developments in various sectors and in some sectors we emerged as leaders. Some of our companies had got world class recognition. India emerged as one of the greatest tourist attraction which may be the only country sustaining various cultures with harmony. India became the symbol for peace and love where some of the animals are also given respect. India became the source of man power which is providing potential employees to the most esteemed companies. Many companies today have Indians at their top positions. We are successful in implementing technology with in the country. We are able to build world class cities. We had achieved many laurels in the sports as a nation. Today we are the most trusted market to the world where they can invest. We developed a fairly stable economy. We are also successful in many ways as a nation and as a largest democratic nation. We are fortunate enough to see Abdul Kalam who is an inspiration for the modern generation of India. We are gifted with many legends in various fields. In contrast we had to tackle many failures in traveling towards are dream to become a self sustained developed nation. Though we achieved independence we are still bound in the shackles of governance, education and caste system. We had to face new social barriers like crime and corruption which had grown substantially in independent India. Our politics became an analogy for crime and corruption. Farmers are still dependent on monsoons and money lenders in our independent India. Student is dependent on their financial status to choose the field of study in independent India. Girls need to depend on someone to travel on roads at night. Where are we independent? We are independent in corruption. We had freedom to litter on the roads. In some areas girls did not have freedom to even enter the schools. Most of the women are forced to quit their jobs after marriages. Dowry system is still prevailing which is turning out to be a nightmare for bride’s father and also one of the reason for female infanticides. Some are still bound to superstitions and some are specially imposed on girls. Education system needed a change wherein we need a system that is encouraging for students to learn and apply things rather than focus on just examinations. We failed to attract students who are leaving the country and are settling in foreign countries and as a result the brilliant thoughts which are handcrafted in India are not used for our development as a nation. The reservation system still persists which shows our failure in removing the differences in the society. There are several barriers we are facing today and each of these needed a broad minded hearts. Crimes against women are increasing. We need to tackle all these with our bold hearts and overcome all barriers in order to become a self sustained developed nation where the citizens are blessed with knowledge that enhances the human relationships and comforts and make this holy land a best place to pursue knowledge along with wisdom. Let us not forget our nation the next day of Independence Day. The national anthem we sing on this day should be a symbol of religious harmony. Let us join the hands together and show the power of the largest youth nation to the world. Personally I like two important things on this day. One is the national flag breathing the warm respects of Indians and the other  is the voice of India uniting to sing the national anthem keeping all their differences apart. Jai Hind. Satyamevajayate.

I request all Indians to be bound to National Integrity and Cultural Harmony rather than to caste and religion. It is ‘Vandemataram’ and not ‘One Day Mataram’. I believe in one god which is my mother land and which is above all religions as prescribed in the Indian Mythology.

The article is dedicated to A.P.J Abdul Kalam who always stays alive in our hearts.
