Have you ever played games? What do you mean games? Sports?? PC games? In our days that is when i was in school we are addicted to play grounds and parks may be due to the fact that we did not have a computer at home. We used to play cricket, foot ball, Hockey every possible sport with our own rules not to become professionals in any one of these but for mere passing time. Along with entertainment we used to gain a lot of physical strength. Our previous generation are even more stronger because they used to take a lot of physical work. Now, just five years passed since I left the school there is a huge difference in our(Student's) attitude, in the way we do things. Today most of kids are addicted to mobile games, computer games. They brought playgrounds into 14" 15" inch screens I have seen students failing in the examination due to these intellectual games(So called by my friends). I have seen people suffering from severe frustration playing these games. From 2 year old kid to a father who was recently blessed with a kid I have seen different people of various age groups addicted to these.I came across a kid who didn't start to walk, run in Temple Run and his father is training him to run.I often wonder whether to feel happy on seeing some of their fast learning skills or sad that they are missing actual fun on grounds, parks etc. School timings also drastically changed, I used to have school from morning 9 to 4 pm and then compulsory games from 4 to 6 pm daily. Same school now have school timings from 7 am to 7 pm. Syllabus remained same more over the final exam(10th std) is now easier as it followed grading system rather than marks. I wonder what they achieve being in the same class room 12 hrs a day. I have heard modern teachers talking about all round development of a student, I wanted to stress them that all round development means development and building an individual character along with academics and building character can only be achieved only through sports and games. All round development doesn't mean that a student studies 7,8,9,10 syllabus in 7th standard itself. This only builds pressure on the student. Our education system has designed according to the potential of the students so that they could study prescribed syllabus every year and gain the objective of real Education. Students also tend to read important questions rather than to try and understand the real motto behind the topics they study. They should understand that education is not just for passing or scoring marks in the examination, It is to enhance the human capabilities and to develop the feeling of nation, fraternity and to destroy the social barriers like caste systems to promote equality. Generally I have a habit of interacting with people of different age groups, I came across a student who said to me that he didn't know the importance of preamble of Indian Constitution as it was not a important question. Another case is that I have seen several elders(Educated) exercise their vote to the one who belonged to their caste but never think who's the deserved one. These both cases are of two different backgrounds but they have a common backdrop, former does not try to understand the importance of Education and later, Education is of no use both may be literates according to stats but actually are illiterates worst than the people who are deprived of Education. These are the fact in my society and written not to hurt anyone's feeling but just to understand the importance of Education with values and save the Nation's dream of achieving real Development.
Grt blog!! All the best.:)
